He didn't sell 25,000 bedroom or furniture sets. He is probably going to clear $65 million. Also he has a profit margin on the bedroom and furniture sales. Tempurpedic mattresses and foundations sell at a fixed price. They can't be discounted. Everyone pays the same price in the country. Doesn't matter if you buy directly from the manufacture or a store. It's similar to new Rolex watches. If you buy from a Rolex authorized store you pay the same. It's tricky what Mack does but Tempurpedic can't do anything about it. If you lived in Houston why would you go anywhere else. Mack gives you a freeroll. If you are in the market for that brand you go to furniture gallery before the ALCS and buy mattress and foundation. Even if you buy other brands you go there. The EV discount exceeds a slightly lower price elsewhere. I've been planning on replacing my Tempurpedic. It's over 25 years old. I wish I lived there. I absolutely would have bought a new mattress and foundation this year from Furniture Gallery.

The latest from the LVRJ. He sold $16 million in bedding and furniture this past Sunday and Monday. I can't believe the guy ran the promotion after Houston was in the World Series. This is how strong a play this was for the customer. If you bought the Tempurpedic mattress and foundation for $3000. You bet the Phillies at +180 for $1000. If the Phillies win your mattress and foundation cost you $1200. If Houston win Mac hands you $3000 cash and you lose $1000 on the Phillies. It cost you $1000. Like I said if I lived there I would already be sleeping on a brand new mattress. I think there was people buying furniture and mattresses to resell elsewhere. That wasn't all Houston locals spending $16 million. At an average of $4000 a purchase, remember you had to spend a minimum of $3000 that would be around 4000 customers Sunday and Monday. He must have people lined up outside his stores. You can't fit that many people inside and have salespeople handle all those transactions.

He said it's basically a wash. He sold $75 million since the promotion started. I was so wrong in my previous post. I just can't fathom $16 million in sales volume in two days. But it makes sense. The place was flooded like hustlers on a casino promotion.

Mack gonna be ok either way

But what about the people who didnt really need new furniture but bought it anyway to try and win? Now they potentially own ANOTHER debt to pay off....

Well...Mack didn't get rich enough to make million dollar bets by worrying about if people actually need what he pushing?

He stated in an interview on _____ that he sold more than the $75 million due to the crazy amount of volume he did this past Sunday/Monday. He actually halted the promotion.

Either way, it's still a promotion gimmick and he comes off as some betting legend because he hedged sales.

He bet 10M of his cash and I'd love to know who gave him the odds high enough to ultimately get it a win of 75M because his average is +750. I got them to win the WS at +450 in July so he had to have placed these bets well before then to get that kind of payout.

If Astros repeat, gambler 'Mattress Mack' will earn $43.4M payout

Sports fan Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale has put his money -- big money -- where his mouth is. His allegiance to Texas-based teams, particularly the Houston Astros, has both paid off and lost him millions of dollars in bets over the years.
The Houston-area furniture store owner won $75 million gambling correctly that the Astros would capture the 2022 World Series. Now he's due to collect potentially $43.4 million betting that the Astros repeat as champions, according to multiple reports.
McIngvale, 72, wagered $6.9 million on the Astros before the start of the postseason.
Houston didn't win the American League West until the last day of the regular season.
His pick is looking better after the Astros eliminated the Minnesota Twins in the AL Division Series on Wednesday and moved on to face the Texas Rangers starting Sunday in the American League Championship Series.
McIngvale had announced three other bets on the Astros throughout the year. He put $1.9 million at +600 for an $11.4 million payout at Caesars Sportsbook in the preseason. He placed a $2 million bet at the same odds to win $12 million at DraftKings on Sept. 15. Before the ALDS, McIngvale placed a bet of $2 million at +450 to win $9 million.
McIngvale, the founder of Gallery Furniture, has parlayed sports bets into store promotions in which customers get their money back if the Astros win.
He has also lost bets, such as on the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI in 2022 (the Los Angeles Rams won); and for Alabama and TCU to beat Georgia in the past two College Football Playoff National Championship games. Georgia won both title games.

Mary Lou Retton's generous gift from Mattress Mack is nowhere near his biggest donation.

Houston businessman Jim McIngvale, better known as "Mattress Mack," often makes headlines for his entertaining commercials or enormous sports bets. His dedication to helping others was spotlighted this week when he gave $50,000 to Mary Lou Retton, the former Olympian who is uninsured and battling pneumonia.
But this is nothing new for Mattress Mack, who has made much larger donations for years with much less publicity.

Mattress Mack's huge donation to cancer research

In 2016, McIngvale made a $500,000 donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center. The University of Texas research facility made a huge difference to Mattress Mack in his personal life. He credited MD Anderson doctors for helping "him live an extra 20 years" after a tragic liver cancer diagnosis.
This is just one example of Mattress Mack's philanthropy in the Houston community. He also opened his stores to shelter hundreds of victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Beyond that, McIngvale has played instrumental roles in helping people with obsessive compulsive disorders, making mental health care available to those in the city, funding a mobile stroke unit from St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and donating thousands of units of furniture to Houston area schools and homes.
